Similar to Bill Gates, our Senior Analyst, Dinesh Reddy Jetti, believes that feedback, when taken positively, is key to success.
Dinesh possesses a Bachelor of Technology, Electronics and Communications and has more than 6 years of working experience. His strengths include mastering the use of a test automation tool called Selenium and a new Process automation tool called Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Selenium is an umbrella project encapsulating a variety of tools and libraries enabling web browser automation while RPA technology configures the computer software, or a “robot” to emulate and integrate the actions of a human interacting within digital systems to execute a business process. With Selenium and RPA, Dinesh is now able to pull out reports on a daily basis from the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System and do a quick verification between CRM and Business Relationship Management (BRM) systems.
We asked him what made him interested in learning to use and implement such technology.
“Feedback is critical for a business to continue to evolve. The faster and more effectively we can gain feedback from our systems, the better. By automating the process of pulling reports, I can now provide feedback to the team daily, allowing us to make even minute tweaks to our processes as needed.”
Embodying this statement is our Assistant Director for Customer Solutions, Allan Lee. When it comes to pursuing his personal goals or following through on business opportunities, Allan is relentless.
This enabled him to graduate with a First-class Honors BSc (Hons) for Cybersecurity and Networks, Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from Teesside University (UK). Now, he has 20 years of experience in ICT and Telecommunications, making him an asset to the Customer Solutions Team.
In his role, he needs to manage projects that involve cross-functional teams and external vendors. We asked him, in his view, what is the key to success?
Meet Andrew, our Senior Manager of Infra-structure Planning and Implementation. His defining feature is his commitment to ensuring all projects are completed within the targeted timeline and to drive cost savings to stretch the budget.
Armed with a Bachelor in Electronics and Electrical Engineering majoring in Telecommunications (2nd Class Honors), and 15 years of experience in the Telecommunications Industry, Andrew has a vast array of experience in the field. His expertise ranges from radio-paging to 3G & 4G mobile coverage and, underground copper and fibre network planning.
Throughout his years in the industry, Andrew has always been committed to providing customers with the best possible service experience. Andrew shares one memorable story about his experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In operational works, there are instances where either myself or my team need to go the extra mile for the customer, but the most remarkable anecdote I have to share will be of my experience as the COVID Manager during the 2020 pandemic situation in Singapore. As an essential services provider, SPTel must ensure that our services continue to function throughout the circuit breaker period. With a segregated workforce, I was operating with a lean team and I was worried that projects would not be completed on time. I always tell my team that when we make a promise to our customer, we follow through no matter what. So, I came back to the office every day, to ensure all SPTEL commitments and other daily operational roll out works were not affected, and at the same time tracked and monitored the well-being of staff that needed to return to work.”
The result of his commitment?
“During this period, together with the team, we managed to complete a grand total of 73 critical connections for our customers. I am so proud of the team for not only delivering the job, but also exceeding customer expectations by completing ahead of schedule, despite the manpower shortage.”
Meet Hai Hung, our Assistant Director for IP Core Engineering, supporting connectivity services like Metro Ethernet, IPVPN and Internet. SPTel’s IP Core and Datacenter network is the backbone infrastructure for services like IoT, Cloud and International connectivity services, therefore he plays a very important role in the team!
He has a bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and his stellar credentials include a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, CCNA and IPv6 Forum Gold Level and Security Certification, and, Machine Learning Training. To date, he has 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, spanning a wide range of responsibilities that includes Data Analytics, Process Improvement and Innovation for customer operations, Project and Vendor Management for the implementation of Network and Server Infrastructure and Security, CPE Development and Deployment, Quality Assurances and Control for Test lab and Field Operations Support. Prior to joining the telecommunications industry, Hai Hung spent 2 years conducting research in Wide Area Wireless Networks at the A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research.
Meet Chin Jun Voon, our go getter Product Manager of IoT-as-a-Service who applies this saying to his everyday life. Jun Voon has more than 14 years of experience in the ICT and Telecommunications industry, specializing in products such as Data Centers, Cloud, IoT and Enterprise Mobility solutions.
With his can-do spirit, he has taken on a myriad of roles spanning technical support, presales solutioning and product management. There is this Chinese proverb, “the older the ginger, the spicier it gets”. This saying is frequently used to express the wisdom that comes with age. SPTel is fortunate to have one such “spicy ginger” in our team lead, Business (Biz) IT Service Management Center (SMC) Manager, Wang Ping.
Aside from a Master’s Degree in Business in Information Technology , Wang Ping also processes 2 decades of experience in the Telecommunications industry, managing large-scale and complex projects and maintaining the mission-critical applications in Asia-Pacific, specialising in BSS/OSS delivery management, digital transformation, IT Service Management and Project Management.
With the aim of achieving automation of SPTel’s operations under his tenure, Wang Ping draws on his reservoir of experience to implement with and guide his team on areas such as increasing productivity and efficiency of operation to drive business benefits. He hopes that in time, the team will accumulate enough experience for themselves so that they too can draw on their own experiences and deal with similar situations with ease.
For a person who has experienced it all at the workplace, we wonder what makes him excited to come to work at SPTel every day. Wang Ping shares.
“I am excited to be part of SPTel’s digital transformation project, as I get to design, build and implement a truly end to end digital BSS/OSS system. With the high availability and scalability of SPTel’s network and edge cloud, it allows me to deliver many new breakthroughs that would not have been possible with traditional providers. I am proud to be part of the team in SPTel that is bringing a revolutionary digitalised customer experience to the market.”
When starting out on something new, some choose to dip their toes to test the water, others plunge right in. Cyril Joshua, our Associate Engineer with a Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, is one such person who believes that the only way to learn fast is to perform under pressure. That’s why he made the choice to join SPTel, a challenger in the telco space, to accelerate his pace of growth.
Despite being a fresh graduate, he is already knee deep in his role. His day to day duties include planning of site surveys, monitoring technical proposals, attending inspections and spearheading process improvement.
“I chose to join SPTel because of the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and play a bigger role. As this is my first job, I want to learn as much as I can, as quickly as I can. The fast pace and strong emphasis on innovation at SPTel will enable me to quickly develop my capabilities.”
Besides learning while on the job, Cyril also sees his mentors and team mates as key sources of knowledge and advice.
What builds customer loyalty and keeps them coming back time and again? Is it the salesperson? The product? The price? Or the execution and aftersales care?
The answer: All of the above
That is why our Government Sector Sales Manager, Lim Nie San, believes firmly in teamwork and goes out of her way to act as a facilitator for cross department cooperation.
“Bringing in the deal is just the start of the journey. It takes a team of people, from the support, operation and aftersales to fully understand the various customers’ requirements before we can successfully win over the customer and build their trust. I have 2 key roles. When fronting the customer, I am the avenue to better understand their problems and provide assurance that we will be there for them when needed. At the backend I’m the teambuilder and communicator. After understanding the customer’s pain points, I pull together the subject matter experts within SPTel and together we come up with a solution.”
Though she makes it sound easy, we know that getting people to work together is not a simple task. We asked her what’s the secret behind building rapport with team members.
Some people work to live, but those who are truly spectacular, live for their work. Our IoT Engineer, Venkat Subramanian is one such individual. With a strong passion for IoT and a love for helping others overcome various engineering hurdles, Venkat is in his element here at SPTel.
With a zeal for all things IoT related and a never give up attitude, Venkat is an asset to SPTel’s IoT team, bringing with him valuable problem solving skills and engineering know how to aid in the implementation of various IoT solutions.
Holding a Master’s in Computer Control and Automation from Nanyang Technological University and with 4 years of technical experience under his belt, Venkat views his pivotal role in the design and build of a smart factory in just 1.5 years as his greatest achievement to date.
A patient listening ear and paying keen attention to details plays a key role in becoming a successful Product Manager. Why do we say so? With good listening skills, a Product Manager can effectively craft innovative products by paying attention to feedback from the ground and ensuring no detail is missed out. Our Product Manager, Joyce Liang processes this very trait that makes her excel in her role of managing the development of the SPTel’s product portfolio and its life cycle.
Armed with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Marketing) and certifications by the Association of International Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM) and Association of International Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM), Joyce brings with her more than 20 years of experience, mainly in the Telecommunications Industry.
Having experienced the evolution of the telecommunications industry, from paging to cloud, Joyce is excited to join a young and growing organisation here at SPTel. Particularly, Joyce is thrilled to be part of the team introducing cutting edges projects such as Singapore’s First End-to-End Portal with Zero-Touch Provisioning. She is especially excited by the opportunity to be hands on with the project and get involved in every activity within the team.
With her wealth of experience in the industry, we asked her what the key to success is.
“It’s your attitude towards the job. When you know something needs to get done, pull the team together, decide and go. No matter how difficult the request may be.”
