This talented lady will drive a multi-million dollar business while keeping tummies satisfied with homemade bakes. Never have projects been driven more tightly, or more deliciously, than under our Project Director, Teh Yeok Peng.

As the key project lead for SPTel’s digital transformation, Yeok Peng holds a heavy responsibility to bring about end-to-end service automation for our solutions. With her 25 years of working experience in telecommunications, holding leadership roles in product innovation and development, product management, presales, planning and software development, she is more than up to the task. After all, one of her key achievements in her previous role was to grow the Managed Services product portfolio from zero to a multi-million dollar business across Singapore and regional APAC markets.

We asked her what keeps her going and staying on in tech.

“I am very passionate about technology. I have spent my career building up my understanding of its deployment and application and it is an industry where there is always something new to learn. That is why I was so excited to take on my role at SPTel. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to spearhead the delivery of Singapore’s first true business class digital network. By leveraging on a cloud ready software defined network and enabling fully digitalized service with end-to-end automation we will be delivering something the market has never seen before.”

Yeok Peng goes on to share bout what drove her to take on this challenge.

“I strongly believe that utilizing technology to make a difference for our customers is the way forward. Especially in light of the current situation where industries are scrambling to digitalise their operations to recover quickly from the pandemic. As customers’ needs change, the traditional telco mode of operation need to change to, if not there will be a disjoint and some other player is going to step in and fill the gap. We have identified this and are pushing through on our own transformation to provide fully digitalized services to our customers so they can partner us for a faster quote to order processes, real-time provisioning and services on demand.”

With an entire organisation’s future growth relying on her and her project team, how does she cope with the pressure?

“It boils down to perseverance. You must always remember why you started the project in the first place. For me, it’s about gaining the first hand experience in enabling a new cloud like telco to come into existence, digitalizing everything we do from the ground up. As long as you are clear on what you want to achieve, you will be able to tough through the process and push on.”

In her free time, she enjoys baking and gardening. Hand kneading bread is especially therapeutic for her and allows her to relieve stress while her family members put on weight as they finish up her bakes.
